Meghan Markle has revealed why she married Prince Harry: "You see why I married him?"
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle kicked off their three-day trip to Nigeria to support mental health awareness and wounded service members.
On Friday morning, after landing in the capital city of Abuja, the Sussexes began their three-day journey in Nigeria.
Notably, Meghan Markle made her first appearance at the Heathrow Airport in the UK in the past two years and joined Prince Harry before boarding their flight to Abuja.
In the bustling capital city of Nigeria, after their arrival, the royal couple inaugurated a school light academy supported by their Archewell Foundation, marking their first official engagement on the trip.
The institution, benefiting from their foundation's patronage, greeted them with lively dances and innocent laughter from its young students.
Prince Harry pledged to destigmatize mental health with a promise to erase the stigma surrounding it.
Addressing a topic close to their hearts, the Duke and Duchess selected a subject: mental health awareness.
Prince Harry expressed, "Globally, there's still a stigma around mental health, no matter how much you believe it, there's still a stigma around mental health."
"With emotion," the Duke requested, "every single individual within this room, young, old, whatever it is, every single individual has mental health. Therefore, you must take care of yourself to be capable of showing others."
"There's no shame," admitting that your day is going badly, Prince Harry deeply resonated with the audience.
"You see why I married him?" Meghan exclaimed with affectionate humor.
Meghan shared that their 2-year-old daughter, Lilibet, recently said she saw her own reflection in Meghan's eyes: "I see myself in you."
Meghan reflected on these words, saying she "turned them around in a different way" and "I see myself in this room, I see myself in all of you."
Referencing a 5-year-old boy she met at the school, Meghan mentioned with affection, "Our son Archie is 5. He turned 5 last week."
Prince Harry and Meghan were in Nigeria upon the invitation of General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria.
The Sussexes were prepared to meet with wounded service members as they work with Invictus Games, an initiative established by the Duke to empower injured military personnel and veterans through sport.
