"My focus now is on doing everything I can to remain cancer-free," she said in a video message, six months after revealing an unspecified form of cancer following intense public speculation about her health.

"The last nine months have been incredibly difficult for us as a family," Kate said. "The cancer journey is complicated, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially for your loved ones."

"With humility, it confronts you with your own vulnerability in ways you’ve never considered before, and with that, comes a new perspective on everything," Kate added.

The video, featuring slow music in the background, was shot in several locations including a forest, a beach, and a field in Norfolk, a county in eastern England. She wore a long white summer dress with patterns throughout.

At times, she appeared alone, while at other times she was with her husband, Prince William, heir to the British throne, and their three children—George, 11; Charlotte, 9; and Louis, 6.

Thanking people for the support she and her family received, she said, "Though I’ve finished chemotherapy, my journey of healing and full recovery is long, and I have to take each day as it comes."

"But I look forward to returning to work and starting more public engagements in the coming months when I can," she added.

NBC News royal commentator Daisy McAndrew, calling the video "remarkable," said it would be "a huge relief to many royal fans and those wishing Catherine well around the world."

“It’s incredibly intimate. We really haven’t seen something like this, with the family all playing games and holding hands,” she added. “The closeness between Kate and William is something we’ve never quite seen before—real public displays of affection, lots of hand-holding, and lots of kissing.”

Since revealing in a video in March that she had cancer, Kate has made several public appearances, where she mentioned that she was undergoing "a course of preventative chemotherapy" on the advice of her medical team.

In July, the Princess attended the men’s final at Wimbledon with her daughter. The pair were joined in the Royal Box by Kate's sister, Pippa Middleton Matthews, 41.

"In June, she joined Trooping the Colour, a ceremonial parade celebrating the official birthday of the British monarch. Before the parade, she stated in a message that she was 'still not out of the woods' and had her 'good days and bad days.' She mentioned that she was 'making good progress,' but her treatment would continue for several more months.

More than a month after Buckingham Palace announced that her father-in-law, King Charles III, had been hospitalized with an enlarged prostate, Kate revealed that she was also battling the disease. The palace confirmed that he did not have prostate cancer."
